How it Works

PowerBikeTrain.com provides 15 power (watt) based workouts that are easy to use and very effective for increasing ones ability to generate power on the bike.  It is a progressive schedule, each session building on the previous, starting with a baseline power assessment followed by workouts specifically designed to challenge the different muscle groups and energy systems.

The nature of this training requires that you have a stationary bike that displays watts.  Our club uses the Keiser M3 bikes and this material was created using the M3 as the equipment platform.  However, you may use any brand of stationary bike or indoor trainer with a power meter.

In the first class you will complete a power assessment that identifies your individual Threshold Watts.  After the first week, using the workout templates provided, you will create an individualized Excel based worksheet that allows you to enter your individual Threshold Watts and then it calculates for you the watts at each step of the workout.  There will be a second and third power assessment so you can quantify and track your improvement.  You need to be able to start a timer at the start of the workout and to take full advantage of this very effective training you will want to monitor your heart rate.
